Hutchinson is a city in Kansas and is named after its founder C.C. Hutchinson and was a major wheat producing region in the US. With multiple flour mills and elevators, the city has a storage capacity of more than 10,000,000 bushels of grain. Today, Hutchinson is known for its many different attractions, family-friendly restaurants, museums, waterparks, and more. It is also the home to many award-winning golf courses and is popular among players and sports fans who visit the place to watch their favorite team compete at one of its athletic complexes.

Sean James

Former American football player and activist Sean James played his high school football from the Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson. He was a member of the team that reached the state semifinals back in 1986 and won the All-County and All-State running back award. James received his B.A. in Business Administration with a minor in Physical Therapy from Missouri Southern State University. 

After his professional football career ended, James started modeling and appeared in advertising campaigns such as Fuyu, Avon Products, Hanes, and phat Farm. Currently, he runs an NGO with the name Sean James Student-Athletes in 2007 in N.Y. City that offers scholarships to underprivileged youth. He is also the founder of Be In The Know About Bullying organization in 2012 that works towards raising awareness against bullying in school through education, leadership, and the use of meaningful mentors.

David Dillon

David Dillon, the retired chairman and the CEO of the Kroger Co., graduated from Hutchinson High School back In 1969. He was also an Eagle Scout and the senior patrol leader in Boy Scout Troop 301. He also passed from the University of Kansas and was student body President. His wife, Dee Dillon, is also from Hutchinson and is a K.U. graduate. Over the years, he has lived in different cities such as Kansas, Ohio, and Arizona but considers Kansan to his home. 

He started working in different roles at Dillon Stores before Kroger bought Dillon Stores in 1982. David Dillon became the company’s Vice President of Kroger in 1990 and then moved on to become its CEO in 2003. He retired from the company at the end of 2013 and then as the chairman in 2014. David Dillon is also a member of 3M, MRIGlobal, and the Union Pacific Corporation boards of directors.  

Willian Edgar Stafford

The famous American poet and pacifist, Willian Edgar Stafford, was appointed as the 20th Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, in a highly educated family. He graduated from high school in Liberal and received his B.A. degree from the University of Kansas in 1937. His major collection of poetry was published late in his career, at the age of 48. He won National Book Award for Poetry for Traveling Through the Dark in 1963. He was also a regular contributor to anthologies and magazines. He was named the Poet Laureate in 1970 and then as Poet Laureate of Oregon in 1975. He also went on to win the Western States Book Award in 1992 for his contribution to poetry. 

Mitch Brian

Mitch Brian is a famous television writer, screenwriter, and director. He grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas, and attended California State University in Northridge. He has written, optioned, and sold on assignment more than 25 scripts to networks, major studios, and independent production companies over the years. Some of his famous works include Maul of the Dead, Sorority House of the Dead, Last Night at the Rialto, and others. He is currently working as an associate teacher at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
