Hutchinson Zoo

Hutchinson Zoo is located in Hutchinson, Kansas, and is spread over 9-acres. Founded back in 1983, the zoo is home to about 160 animals. The zoo mainly focuses on animals and birds native to Kansas with a few exotic species, such as ringtails, red-tail hawks, turkey vulture, red foxes, barn owls, and beavers, Sulcata tortoise, donkey, and others. Here, visitors can explore animal habitats, catch a glimpse of native birds and even beavers in the aviary.

Apart from that, you can also enjoy a ride on the Prairie Thunder Train that takes you through a tour of the entire zoo. The Dinosaur Dig Area is a fun and exciting activity for kids where they can uncover dinosaur fossils. The Mini Farm allows kids to get up and close with domestic species. There is also a Discovery Center that is converted into an exhibit.

The Hutchinson Zoo has beautiful landscaping and is well maintained. There is a gift shop inside the premises that sells a variety of toys, apparel, books, gifts, games, snacks and beverages, and more. There is an open area near the gift shop with tables and chairs to enjoy your snacks. There is also a great picnic area for the families to relax after they have walked around the zoo
